ORNIPEST

ORNIPEST

ORNIPEST lyophilized suspension for domestic fowls

Description

ORNIPEST

Live Attenuated Cloned Newcastle Disease Vaccine (LaSota SL-93)

ORNIPEST is a live attenuated, cloned LaSota strain (SL-93) Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccine. Following administration, the virus replicates specifically in the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems and, through the induction of cell-mediated and humoral immunity (secretory IgA and IgY), replicates more rapidly than enterotropic strains such as Ulster 2C, PHY.LMV.42, and V4¹.

Genetic stability achieved through the cloning technique prevents reversion to virulence. Combined with minimal post-vaccination reactions and the induction of specific local immunity, ORNIPEST provides effective protection against Newcastle disease¹.

The use of LaSota strain (SL-93) in combination with ORNIPRIM CLONE B1 has been shown to induce cross-protective immunity against multiple Newcastle disease virus genotypes, including VIb, VIg, VIId, and IX².

Administration of the LaSota strain (SL-93) has demonstrated no adverse effects on production performance, including fertility, egg production, and hatchability¹.

It is recommended that, upon the clinician’s judgment and during the early stage of Newcastle disease involvement in a poultry house, ORNIPRIM CLONE B1 be used for emergency vaccination in the affected house. In other houses at risk of Newcastle disease, the cloned LaSota strain (SL-93) should be administered as a single dose via coarse spray or drinking water. This approach aims to reduce Newcastle disease virus shedding and viral load, thereby preventing transmission and involvement of neighboring poultry houses.

Rapid replication in the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems¹

Induction of specific local immunity through both cell-mediated and humoral immune responses¹

No reversion to virulence due to genetic stability achieved by cloning¹

Vaccine Composition:
Each dose of the vaccine contains lentogenic Newcastle disease virus, LaSota strain (SL-93), with a potency of minimum 10⁶․⁰ to 10⁸․⁰ EID₅₀.

(EID₅₀: 50% embryonated egg infective dose)

Pharmaceutical Form:
Live attenuated vaccine, lyophilized

Indications:
For active immunization against Newcastle disease in healthy chicks and adult poultry

Target Species:

Broilers, breeders and commercial layers.

✅ Dosage & Method of Administration

  • Eye-drop Administration

For preparation of each 1,000 doses, dissolve the vaccine completely in 25–30 mL of sterile normal saline or sterile distilled water. Using a standard dropper, administer one drop into the eye of each bird.

  • Spray Administration

Dissolve 1,000 doses of the vaccine in 1–1.5 liters of clean normal saline or distilled water free from disinfectants. Spray the solution from a distance of 20–30 cm above the birds’ heads under dim lighting conditions.
The volume of water used depends on the age of the birds and the type of spray equipment.

  • Drinking Water Administration

For vaccination of birds up to 10 days of age, dissolve 1,000 doses of the vaccine in approximately 10 liters of clean water free from chlorine or disinfectants.
The volume of water depends on bird age, season, and type of feed, such that 1 additional liter of water is added for each additional day of age.
When using this method, it is recommended to simultaneously add water stabilizers during vaccine preparation.

✅Mechanism of Action

Administration of ORNIPEST, containing a live attenuated cloned lentogenic Newcastle disease virus, prevents Newcastle disease by stimulating the specific lymphoid immune system.
Protective immunity develops 1–2 weeks after vaccination, and revaccination should be performed if necessary based on serum antibody titers.

Recommendations and Precautions

  • The vaccine should be obtained exclusively through the official distribution network and administered under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
  • The reconstituted vaccine should be used within 1–2 hours after preparation.
  • Do not mix this vaccine with any other live vaccines, and observe appropriate intervals between vaccinations.
  • Avoid administering the vaccine at lower than the recommended dose.
  • Birds vaccinated via the drinking water route should be deprived of access to drinking water for 1–2 hours prior to vaccination.
  • When handling Newcastle disease virus, avoid contact with the eyes.
  • As the vaccine contains live virus, empty or partially used vials must be immersed in a strong disinfectant solution and disposed of properly. All vaccination equipment should be thoroughly washed with disinfectants or boiling water after use.

Contraindications

Vaccination of clinically diseased poultry should be avoided.

Adverse Reactions

In birds that are Mycoplasma-positive or in flocks with poor hygienic management, very mild and transient respiratory reactions may occasionally be observed following vaccination.
